Edge of Walton Community Project Receives Vital Grant from the Government of Ontario and the Ontario Trillium Foundation for COVID-19 Recovery

Walton, ON August 10, 2022 — The Edge of Walton Community Project is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a grant of $124,600.00 from the Ontario Trillium Foundation as a part of its Resilient Communities grant. This significant grant has enabled the non-profit organization to undertake essential safety upgrades to its 50-foot challenge course, procure new safety equipment, provide staff training, and hire a full-time Director of Programs & Funding.

The grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation comes as part of the foundation’s commitment to supporting non-profits in their efforts to recover from financial setbacks incurred during the challenging COVID-19 pandemic. The funding will play a crucial role in helping the Edge of Walton Community Project enhance its facilities, ensure the safety of its participants, and strengthen its capacity to deliver impactful programs to the community.

“We are immensely grateful to the Ontario Trillium Foundation for their generous support. This grant will be instrumental in helping us not only recover from the financial losses experienced during the pandemic but also enhance our offerings for the benefit of the community,” said Jamie Mitchell, Director of Programming and Funding of the Edge of Walton Community Project.

Key initiatives supported by the grant include:

  • Safety Upgrades to Challenge Course: The grant will facilitate comprehensive safety upgrades to the 50-foot challenge course, ensuring that it adheres to the highest safety standards and provides a secure environment for participants.
  • Procurement of New Safety Equipment: The Edge of Walton Community Project will invest in state-of-the-art safety equipment to further safeguard participants engaging in the challenge course activities.
  • Staff Training: The grant will enable the organization to provide specialized training for staff, ensuring they are well-equipped to manage and oversee activities on the challenge course safely.
  • Appointment of Director of Programs & Funding: A new full-time position, the Director of Programs & Funding, will be established to oversee the development and implementation of impactful community programs and seek additional funding opportunities to sustain the organization’s mission.
